I used to love writing on the chalk board in grade school. On an occasional Friday afternoon, when all of our assignments were completed and everyone was mentally exhausted from 5 days of school work, I remember my teacher letting us write on the board. We could draw, play hang-man, trace our hands, etc. It was invigorating. Why? Because for the other four and half days of the week the board was used for solving math equations, practicing spelling words and taking notes on George Washington. Having the creative freedom to write whatever we wanted that wasn’t confined to a school subject was amazing.
Here at Willow, we have a chalkboard – from floor to ceiling. But this chalkboard rarely has a math problem on it or even a spelling word. Instead, it’s filled with random brainstorms, our Social Media Tracker quirky Willow phrases, print-outs of projects and the occasional doodle. And you know what’s great? I still that get that same invigorating feeling I used to experience when I was 12. It’s amazing what kind of power is wielded from a piece of jumbo chalk.
So out of the shear joy of enjoying this Friday afternoon here at the office, I thought I would share a snapshot of the Willow chalkboard. And while I’m at it, I thought I’d ask you, if you could write/draw/doodle one thing on a chalkboard, what would it be and why? (Don’t be surprised if that excited 5th grader deep down inside of you decides to pop up!)

Creative Inspiration: Don’t Hate Me Because I’m Beautiful

Pinterest is honestly my new favorite form of social media right now (no offense, blogging). I mean, think about it – where else can you browse and be flooded with every type of creative inspiration out there? I’m pretty convinced that Pinterest is creating a new form of creative community and it’s making DIY projects that much more tangible.
It’s definitely bringing out the crafty kids in us here at Willow. Without Pinterest, I don’t think we’d ever know just how many people actually own glue guns, enjoy cutting out little pieces of fabric and would use their lunch break to step away from their computers only to continue to use their creativity with a more hands-on approach.
Which leads me to our most recent Pin Buster Project. Only two of us were able to attend the party this time, but it was definitely worth it (even the multiple hot glue gun burns to the finger tips were worth it).
The Project: Pom Pom Bib Necklace
The Participants: Marizka and Sarah

Today being Friday is the icing to our cake…cupcake that is. With the week winding down from Willow’s celebration, we’ve seen (and ate) more junk food than one ever should, including cupcakes! Vanilla ones, chocolate ones, red velvet ones, sprinkles, icing, some with forks, some with spoons, some all in one bite. From this “situation”, the question was presented if you could create a tagline for a cupcake, what would it be? Some answers received were:
• Cupcakes. Crack for Sugar Plum Fairies
• Cupcakes. Dainty and Delicious
• Cupcakes. Giving Sugar All Day Long
• Cupcakes. They Love You Back
• “C is for cupcake and cupcake is for me!” (In a singing voice)
• Cupcakes. A Taste of Heaven in Every Bite
Have any ideas for your cupcake tagline? Share them! While you think, below is a recap of the posts from this past week. Check them out and enjoy your weekend!
